Chinatown Brasserie NY

Dumpling Combo

Shrimp Dumplings

This Friday, I was in NY watching Food Network at my boyfriend's apartment. There is this show called "The Best Thing I Ever Ate"; every episode famous chefs of Food Network share the best thing they each ate under different topics like chocolate, steak, sandwich and etc. We were watching the "Crunchy" episode, and one of the chefs recommended crunchy Egg Roll of Chinatown Brasserie in NY. It looked sooo delicious and sooo crunchy that we googled the restaurant and found out that it was selected Critic's Pick in NY Mag, so we decided to go there for dinner. It is located in 380 Lafayette Street; it is very huge inside, dark but cozy, embellished with modern Chinese touch.
Menu is full of Dim Sum and Dumplings. We had Classic Egg Rolls (of course! that was why we were there for:)), Vegetable Potstickers, Shrimp and Scallop Dumpling with XO Sauce,E-Fu Noodles and Pao Pao Beef with Scallion. All of them were really incredible, my favorite was Shrimp Dumpling. We were also thinking of ordering the Peking Duck, but then we decided not to. Then the couple right next to our table had the duck and it looked amazing, so next time I am going to have duck. Service was very good also, the waiter's recommendations turned out to be very good. We didn't have room for a desert, but Custard Bao looked so good!
They have a very appealing Lunch Deal: four dumplings and a lunch entree for $14. Definitely go there if you are around.
